Jakarta – The Political Literacy Institute, bekerja sama dengan Public Relation (PR) Politik 2009 Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia (UAI), Senin (9/5) mengadakan seminar politik yang mengangkat tema “Youth Political Outlook 2011 : Saatnya Yang Muda Bicara Politik.” Ketua panitia acara, Karunia Agustine mengutarakan bahwa tujuan diselenggarakannya acara tersebut adalah untuk memberikan pendidikan politik bagi kaum muda. “Kaum muda merupakan salah satu pilar utama perubahan sosial saat ini maupun mendatang.” Ungkap Karunia.
Menurut Direktur Eksekutif The Political Literacy Institute, Gun Gun Heryanto,” kegiatan ini memiliki tiga tujuan utama. Yaitu mengembangkan kaum muda yang kritis, kedua munculnya pemahaman bagi kaum muda terhadap dinamika politik, dan yang ketiga menguatnya pemilih rasional dikalangan para pemilih pemula,” ungkap Gun dalam sambutannya. Seminar tersebut menghadirkan para narasumber politikus muda, seperti Teresia Pardede –Tere- (anggota DPR RI2009-2010), Wanda Hamidah (Anggota DPRD DKI), Prof. Andi Faisal (Guru Besar Komunikasi/Dekan FIKOM Universitas Pancasila).
Dalam seminar tersebut, Wanda Hamidah menjelaskan bahwa sekarang ini politik kerap kali membuat kaum muda menjadi skeptis. Bahkan bannyak yang menjadi apatis karena mengganggap politik tidak memberi pencerahan, politik itu kotor. Pola pikir kaum muda ini harus kita ubah, karena dalam kehidupan berbangsa kita tak pernah bisa lepas dari politik. Peserta seminar tersebut tidak hanya mahasiswa dari UAI, tetapi terdapat beberapa kampus di Jakarta yang turut hadir. Diantaranya yaitu Universitas Indonesia (UI) dan IISIP Jakarta. Selain para mahasiswa, panitia juga mengundang perwakilan dari enam SMA di Jakarta.
